NATURA 2000 House
As part of the Interreg IV A project “Harmonization and optimization of the management of NATURA 2000 sites in the cross-border natural environment of the Lower Oder Valley”, the “NATURA 2000 House” visitor services building in Criewen was opened in August 2014. Visitors’ services, information and management all form a single unit here. The house offers space for exhibitions, a multimedia information centre, a student laboratory and an “open-air school”. Along with the National Park’s Visitor Centre, the NATURA 2000 House is the starting point for guided and individual excursions. Groups can plan and evaluate their outings here.
What the “NATURA 2000 House has to offer:
- Sale of NATURA 2000 und National Park articles, items from our Polish partners, books, maps, environmental education materials
- Internet access for visitors
- Sale of regional German and Polish products / crafts
- Lending of literature and periodicals – creation of a Day Lobrary
- Lending of equipment for environmental education (i.e. binoculars, cup magnifiers, magnifying glasses)
- Lending of outdoor – equipment (seat cushions, ponchos, compasses)
- Information about canoe and bicycle rental
Services of the National Park service / student laboratory and “open-air school”:
- Provision and use of the seminar room as a student laboratory for groups (teachers with school classes, educational organizers, etc.)
- Educational offers for pupils in the environmental education work of the Nature Guard (i.e. junior ranger)
- Practical workshopfor students in cooperation with the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development
- Provision and use of the seminar room for professional events (no rental to private persons)
- Use by the National Park Administration for events
