Board of Trustees of the Lower Oder Valley National Park

Task

In accordance with the law for the formation of a national park “Lower Oder Valley” (National Park Law “Lower Oder Valley” – NatPUOG) § 14, para. 3, a board of trustees for the Lower Oder Valley National Park was established on 2nd December 1996. This Board acts as an intermediary and advisory body between the tasks and responsibilities of the National Park Administration and the interests of the municipalities, the other locally or objectively involved authorities and associations as well as economic and social advocacy groups. The members support the National Park Administration in its task of realising the conservation purpose, taking into account other interests of the general public.

Composition

The Board of Trustees works in the composition defined by the NatPUOG in addition to the designated members.

The majority of the appointed members decide on proposals for the amendment of the composition, in particular the appointment of further members within the framework of § 14, para. 3 NatPUOG.

Executive Board

The Board of Trustees elects an Executive Board. The Executive Board consists of a chairman and two equal-ranking deputies. Every member is eligible for nomination and able to be elected. Re-election is possible. The term of office for the Executive Board is 2 years.

Managing Director

The head of the Lower Oder Valley National Park takes on the role Managing Director. The Managing Direct has the right to address the Board of Trustees but is not entitled to vote.

The Managing Director supports the Executive Board in its work, in particular in the preparation of an agenda, the management of the minutes as well as the preparation and organisation of the Board of Trustees’ meetings and other events of that Board.

Convocation and Participation in the Board of Trustees’ Meetings

The Board of Trustees’ meeting is convened by the chairman at least twice a year. The Executive Board and Managing Director may inform the public about the results of the meeting by mutual consent.

The Board of Trustees’ meetings are generally public. The Executive Board, in consultation with the Managing Director, decides on the exclusion of the public in justified cases. The Board of Trustees may allow other people to attend as non-voting guests and grant them the right to speak.

Quorum

The Board of Trustees is a quorum if more than half of the members (the designated deputies, if necessary) are represented.
